Where are you on your Bible reading journey?

If you’ve never read the Bible before, the Gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John) are a great place to start. Theses books describe the life of Jesus and His ministry on earth. The Gospels will help you understand who Jesus is and who you are in Him.

Apply the S.O.A.P method when reading the Bible. S.O.A.P. stands for Scripture, Observation, Application and Prayer. It is a way of getting more out of your time in God’s word. When you sit for your daily quiet time, read the Bible as you normally would with one simple difference. Underline or make note of any verses that jump out at you with special significance. This is the basis for diving deeper and using S.O.A.P.
Now, grab a journal or a piece of paper and follow the steps…
Scripture – Write down the verse or verses that stuck out to you in your reading.
Observation – What stands out to you in this passage? What’s one thing you didn’t notice before? Are there any repeated words? Is there a comparison or contrast?
Application – How can you apply the observation so that it affects your life today? What changes do you need to make? Is there a specific action you need to take or a confession you need to make?
Prayer – Write out a prayer to God based on what you just learned and ask him to help you apply this truth in your life.
