Pass it On

After that whole generation had been gathered to their fathers, another generation grew up, who knew neither the Lord nor what he had done for Israel. Then the Israelites did evil in the eyes of the Lord and served the Baal’s.
-Judges 2:10-11

“As for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.” You see that scripture in Joshua 24:15 and honestly this should be prevalent in every household. You can see the consequences in the verse above, “another generation grew up, who knew neither the Lord..” That right there should worry us enough. Knowing that if we as parents don’t teach our kids to follow Christ, then who will? God says that the responsibility for this task belongs primarily to the family. Children learn so much by your example as parents. I’m not saying that the church doesn’t do a good enough of a job, but the church can't be the primary teacher of faith to children. The church only speaks into your kids twice a week at most, and they are with you the rest of the time. The home is the most effective place to pass on and teach the faith to the next generation. How will your kids learn the faith if not by your example?

Prayer Starter
God I pray that you will use us as parents to be the example for our kids. I pray You would give us the boldness to say no when we need to say no and the strength to do Your will. I pray that we would be effective in teaching our kids how to serve You the right way. Thank you for all You do, and everything You’re going to do.
